Decorative Embroidered Brooches

In this workshop, you will learn how to create a three-dimensional brooch using a range of techniques including embroidery goldwork and stumpwork.  This brooch can be worn on an outfit or hat, making it something unique and special.  A prior knowledge of embroidery is not necessary to participate as you will learn some stitches during the workshop, but you do need to be comfortable using a needle and thread to do basic hand sewing.  If you do have a prior knowledge of embroidery then you will be able to incorporate a wider range of stitches into your work.

The tutor for this workshop is Rhoda Nevins.  Rhoda developed her skills at the Royal School of Needlework and holds Advanced Diplomas in many disciplines (Goldwork, Whitework, Stumpwork, Canvas Work, Silk Shading, Tassle-making, Blackwork, Creative Smoking and Applique).  She was part of the RSN team that helped to embroider the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress.  She and her team of embroiderers are currently working on an embroidery depicting the sealing of the Magna Carta to help celebrate its 800th anniversary this year.
