(Full day) Did you get a sewing machine for Christmas and need help getting started with it? Or have you got a sewing machine in the cupboard that you're not quite sure how to use? Come to this full day workshop and we will help you! During the day, we will cover:
- Bobbin winding and replacement
- Threading the sewing machine
- Problem solving and prevention
- Tension correction
- Stitch length and width
- Uses of various stitches
- Needles and accessory identification
- Accurate sewing
- Making a button hole
- Cleaning and maintenance
You will need to bring your own working sewing machine along with its instruction book and any accessories that it came with. We do have a few sewing machines that you can borrow if you don't own a machine currently - please contact us before booking to check availability. All other materials and refreshments (tea, coffee, homemade cake) are provided, you will just need to bring a packed lunch.
Full day workshop. Learn to make a Roman Blind in a day. You will make a sample-size* lined blind during this workshop. You will cover how to measure your window and calculate fabric requirements, choosing fabric, cutting out, preparing and attaching the lining, front and batten casings, finishing with cord, and discuss recent safety legislation.
Suitable for anyone who knows how to do basic hand and machine stitching. All materials provided but you will ideally need to be able to bring your own sewing machine. (If this is a problem, please get in touch as we have a few that we can lend.)
Morning and afternoon refreshments (tea, coffee, homemade cake) provided, just bring a packed lunch.
*Please note that the photograph is for illustration; the sample-size blind that you make will be smaller than the one in the photograph.
