Weekly SEWING & Dressmaking Classes

These classes take place in the Horsell Village Hall (Bedser Room), GU21 4SS. The class is currently full so please get in touch if you are interested in joining and I will add you to the waiting list. Details of the class are below.

The weekly sewing & dressmaking class runs on Monday mornings from 9.45am to 11.45am.   

Spring 2024 dates are:

First half term: Monday 8th January to Monday 5th February 2024 (5 classes)

Second half term: Monday 19th February to Monday 18th March 2023 (5 classes)

The classes have no more than 8 learners, so plenty of tutor attention, and  last for 2 hours.  The classes are suitable for all abilities from beginner through to experienced sewers.  (Ideally you do need to know how to use a sewing machine but if you haven’t used one before you are still welcome to join the class as we can cover the basics in the first lesson and then you will pick up further skills and knowledge as you progress through your project.)  The class runs concurrently with the weekly knitting, crochet & needlepoint class, as our multi-talented tutor teaches both sewing and stitch-based crafts. 

During the classes, you will work on your own projects at your own pace under the guidance of the tutor.  You are welcome to discuss your project with the tutor in advance of the first class, and she will be able to advise about any specific equipment/materials that you will need.  The tutor is happy to cover all aspects of sewing and dressmaking, including following a pattern, pattern adjustments to get a perfect fit, garment alterations and pattern cutting.  

 Classes cost £20 per class and booking is for half a term at at time with payment in advance to secure your place.  Renewal priority is given to people who are already in the class.  We also welcome new starters mid-term - there are currently spaces available to start immediately.
